yeah man i also like it. i think it's better than tri-x honestly. didn't test yet with the t-max but in terms of cubic grain the Kent is a way better bang for the buck. also comes from a less toxic company...
Kentmere films in 120 are very good, far better than what I expected when I first tired them out. Kentemere 100 is amazing in 120 and quite good in 35mm. Will it replace FP4 for me? Probably not but I still like to shoot it and for the price you can't beat it. As for Pan 200, I like it. Still on the fence about it in 35mm but in 120 I really like it, especially the glow in the highlights. Of course that is not suitable for every subject but I am ok with that. I really shines (all the Kentmere films) in 510 Pyro.
To me it replaces Tri-X. I had some quality control problems and I reached out to Kodak’s salesperson on Instagram , who works at Kodak for decades. They simply ignored my messages.
Is this Alaris Kodak Tri-X or Eastman? I have never had any quality issues with fresh Tri-X but I have heard that some experienced some QA issues with the newer Eastman batches. Funny thing, no matter if Eastman or Alaris distributed it, it was made by Eastman.
Eastman. The new one. I developed it altogether with another roll in the same batch. The Tri-X got weak density negatives and even film lettering was faded (which excludes my light metering). Both rolls on same camera.
Hmm, thats no fun. Was this in 35mm or 120? I have shot the Eastman stuff in 35mm with no issues, I have a bunch in 120 in the freezer thats the Alaris stuff but haven’t shot the Eastman version.
Like Alex, Kentmere is also my daily driver in both 35mm & 120. I have bulk rolls of ISO200 & ISO400, and a decent stock of 120 in all three ISO. Hard to beat the price.
Give the 400 a shot to see how it compares to tri-x. Very different look. But especially when scanning, I find I can get Kent400 into a good working window that I like.

35. I provided Kodak the batch code, since I scan with full borders. They didn’t give a shit.
What did you develop with?
i developed those with the cinestilll df96 monobath but i am starting to consider different chemicals for film development like the kodak ones
